AMOBEADS Noise Suppression Devices
AMOBEADS are amorphous noise suppression devices designed to suppress reverse recovery current in diodes, thereby reducing generated noise. Unlike conventional noise filters that address noise after it's created, AMOBEADS focus on preventing noise at its source by leveraging the unique magnetic characteristics of cobalt-based amorphous alloys. They exhibit a large inductance when diode current attempts to reverse, opposing the generation of recovery current and enabling soft recovery. This effectiveness is independent of circuit frequency. AMOBEADS are conveniently slipped over semiconductor device leads and are available in various configurations, including lead-thru and surface mount options. They are distinct from SPIKE KILLERS, which are larger and wire-wound for higher noise levels.
