The product is designed for various applications requiring reliable capacitance and performance across a wide temperature range. Applicable standards include JIS-C-5101 and JIC-C-5141. Standard test conditions involve an ambient temperature of 252 and relative humidity of 655%.

Electrical Characteristics

  • Rated voltage and Operating Temperature: -40~105 (6.3~120V.DC)
  • Capacitance: Test frequency 120Hz 20%, Measuring circuit: Series equivalent circuit, Test voltage: 1Vrms. Capacitance tolerance: 20%.
  • Dissipation Factor: See Table 1. For capacities > 1000F, loss angle tangent increases by 0.02 for every 1000F increase.
  • Leakage Current: Rated voltage applied, 100010% protective resistor, measured after 2 min. DC: 6.3~120V.DC, I0.01CV or 3uA, whichever is greater (I: Leakage Current (), C: Capacitance (F), V: Rated voltage (V)).
  • High and Low Temperature Characteristic: Impedance at -40 compared to 20 should not exceed values in Table 2. Capacitance change at 105 compared to 20 should be within 20%.
  • Surge Voltage Test: 1000 cycles of 305 sec charge and 3305 sec discharge with surge voltages listed in Table 3. Capacitance change within 20% of initial value. Dissipation Factor not more than 200% of Table 1 value. Leakage Current to satisfy No. 4.1.4.

Mechanical Characteristics

  • Termination Strength:
  • Tensile strength: Applied tension for 51 sec at room temperature.
  • Bending strength: Fixed gravity applied, bent 90 degrees, returned, then bent 90 degrees opposite, returned, all within 5 sec.
  • Criteria: No intermittent contacts, open or short-circuiting. No visible mechanical damage.
  • Vibration: 2 hours in 3 orthogonal directions (total 6 hours). Frequency: 10~55Hz. Amplitude: 1.5mm. Sweep rate: 1 min. Criteria: No intermittent contacts, open or short-circuiting. No visible mechanical damage.
  • Solderability Test: Solder temperature: 2455. Dipping time: 20.5 s. Criteria: At least 90% of the dipped termination surface area covered with new solder.

Durability Test

  • Load Life Test: Test temperature: 1052, applied rated voltage and rated ripple current. Test time: 5-6.3 (3000H); 8-10 (5000H); 13 (6000H). Capacitance Change: Within 25% (16V~100V) or 30% (6.3V~10V) of initial value.
