Usage Precautions
1. Polarization: Electrolytic capacitors are polarized and require correct polarity. Reversed polarity can shorten life or damage the capacitor. Use bi-polarized capacitors for circuits with occasional or unknown polarity. Not suitable for AC applications.
2. Voltage Rating: Do not exceed the rated voltage. Applying a voltage exceeding the rating can damage the capacitor. For AC voltage superimposed on DC, ensure the peak value does not exceed the rated voltage.
3. Ripple Current: Operate within the permissible ripple current range. Exceeding the specified value requires capacitors designed for high ripple current applications.
4. Operating Temperature: Use within the specified operating temperature range. Usage at room temperature ensures longer life.
5. Charge/Discharge Cycles: Not suitable for circuits with frequent charge and discharge cycles. This can cause capacitance drop or damage. Consult engineering for assistance.
6. Voltage Treatment: For capacitors stored for a long time, apply voltage treatment to restore withstand voltage and reduce leakage current. Not required if stored for less than 2-3 years at normal temperature.
7. Soldering: Be careful of temperature and time when soldering. For small-sized capacitors, dipping at less than 260 for less than 10 seconds is acceptable.
8. Soldering Iron Contact: Do not place a soldering iron on the capacitor body, as it can damage the vinyl sleeve.
