Important Usage Notes
- Electrolytic capacitors require polarization. Reversed polarity can shorten life or damage the capacitor. Use bi-polarized capacitors for circuits with unknown or occasionally reversed polarity. Not suitable for AC applications.
- Do not exceed the voltage rating. Exceeding the rating can damage the capacitor. When AC voltage is superimposed on DC, ensure the peak value does not exceed the rated voltage.
- Use within permissible ripple current range. For higher ripple current applications, consult for specialized capacitors.
- Operate within the specified temperature range. Usage at room temperature ensures longer life.
- Not suitable for circuits with frequent charge and discharge cycles. This can lead to capacitance drop or damage. Consult engineering for assistance.
- Apply voltage treatment to capacitors that have been stored for a long time to prevent increased leakage current and overheating. No treatment needed if stored for less than 2-3 years at normal temperature.
- Be careful of temperature and time when soldering. For small-sized capacitors, dipping at <260 for <10 seconds is acceptable.
- Do not place a soldering iron on the capacitor body.
