Important Usage Notes

  1. Electrolytic capacitors require polarization. Reversed polarity can shorten life or damage the capacitor. Use bi-polarized capacitors (BP- series) for circuits with occasional or unknown polarity. Not suitable for AC applications.
  2. Do not exceed the rated voltage. Exceeding the rated voltage can damage the capacitor due to increased leakage current. When superimposing AC voltage on DC, the peak value must not exceed the rated voltage.
  3. Operate within permissible ripple current limits. High ripple current applications require specialized capacitors.
  4. Adhere to the specified operating temperature range. Usage at room temperature ensures longer life.
  5. Not suitable for circuits with frequent charge and discharge cycles. Consult engineering for such applications.
  6. Apply voltage treatment to capacitors that have been stored for extended periods to prevent increased leakage current and potential damage. (No treatment needed if stored less than 2-3 years at normal temperature).
  7. Be cautious of temperature and time during soldering. For small-sized capacitors, dipping at <260 for <10 seconds is acceptable.
  8. Avoid placing a soldering iron on the capacitor body to prevent damage to the vinyl sleeve.
