Important Usage Notes
1. Polarization: Electrolytic capacitors are polarized and require correct polarity. Reversed polarity can shorten life or damage the capacitor. Use bi-polarized capacitors (BP-series) for circuits with occasional or unknown polarity reversal. Not suitable for AC applications.
2. Voltage Rating: Do not exceed the rated voltage. Exceeding the rating can cause damage due to increased leakage current. When AC voltage is superimposed on DC, the peak value must not exceed the rated voltage.
3. Ripple Current: Operate within the permissible ripple current range. For high ripple current applications, request specific capacitors.
4. Operating Temperature: Use within the specified operating temperature range (-25C to +105C). Usage at room temperature ensures longer life.
5. Charge/Discharge Cycles: Not suitable for circuits with frequent charge and discharge cycles, as this can reduce capacitance or damage the capacitor. Consult engineering for assistance.
6. Voltage Treatment: For capacitors stored for extended periods, voltage treatment is recommended to restore withstand voltage and reduce leakage current. No treatment needed if stored less than 2-3 years at normal temperature.
7. Soldering: Be careful with soldering temperature and time. For small-sized capacitors, dipping at less than 260C for less than 10 seconds is generally acceptable.
8. Soldering Iron Contact: Do not place a soldering iron on the capacitor body to avoid damage to the sleeve or case.
9. Cleaning: Avoid halogenated hydrocarbon cleaning and defluxing solvents. Recommended cleaning agents include Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) or Water. Maximum cleaning time: 5 minutes (2 minutes for chip type). Do not use AK225AES.
10. Lead Wires/Terminals: Do not apply excessive force to lead wires or terminals to prevent breakage or internal connection damage.
11. Storage Area: Avoid high temperatures (e.g., direct sunlight) and high humidity, which can adversely affect capacitor life and solderability.
12. Surge Voltage: The surge voltage rating is the maximum DC over-voltage for short periods. Refer to KS C IEC 60384-4 for detailed testing specifications.
