Important Usage Notes
- Electrolytic capacitors require polarization. Reversed polarity can lead to damage or shortened life. Use bi-polarized capacitors for circuits with unknown or occasionally reversed polarity. Not suitable for AC applications.
- Do not exceed the rated voltage. Peak AC voltage superimposed on DC must not exceed the rated voltage.
- Operate within the permissible ripple current range. High ripple current applications require specialized capacitors.
- Adhere to the specified operating temperature range for optimal life.
- Not suitable for circuits with frequent charge and discharge cycles. Consult engineering for such applications.
- Apply voltage treatment to capacitors stored for extended periods to prevent increased leakage current and internal heat generation. (No treatment needed if stored for less than 2-3 years at normal temperature).
- Be careful of temperature and time when soldering. For small-sized capacitors, dipping at <260 for <10 seconds is acceptable.
- Do not place a soldering iron on the capacitor body to avoid damage to the vinyl sleeve.
