5.1 Electrical Performance Indicators and Test Methods:
- Capacitance and Tolerance: Tested at 25, 1 MHz and 1 Vrms (Class I), 1 kHz and 1 Vrms (Class II), 1 kHz and 0.1 Vrms (Class III). Refer to specification table.
- Quality Factor or Dissipation Factor: Test conditions as above. Requirements vary by capacitance value and type (e.g., Y5P, YR, Y5U, Z5U, Y5V, Z5V).
- Insulation Resistance: Tested under rated voltage or 500VDC (for rated voltage above) for 605 seconds. Class I & II: 10000Mmin; Class III: 250Mmin.
- Withstand Voltage: Applied voltage between leads: 300% of rated voltage (50V~500V), 150% of rated voltage (1000V~2000V). Insulation voltage: 150% of rated voltage. No breakdown or arcing.
- Temperature Characteristics: Measured capacitance at specified temperatures. Capacity change (C) calculated by formula. Pre-treatment varies by capacitor type (e.g., Class I, Y5P, Y5U, Y5V).
5.2 Mechanical Performance and Test Methods:
- Lead Tensile Strength: 10N axial tensile force applied for 101 seconds. No damage, breakage, or loosening of leads.
- Bending Test: Lead bent to 90 and returned. No damage to leads.
5.3 Reliability and Test Methods:
- Solderability: Solder temperature 2355, immersion time 2.50.5 seconds. 95% coverage of immersed lead surface.
- Vibration Test: Frequency range 10~55Hz, amplitude 1.5mm, duration 6 hours. Tested in three perpendicular directions. Appearance: No visible damage. Capacitance change within specified tolerance.
- Withstand Soldering Heat: Solder temperature 2605, immersion time 100.5 sec. Appearance: No visible damage. Capacitance change within specified tolerance. Withstand voltage test as per 5.1.4.
- Resistance to Solvents: Immersion in Isopropyl alcohol for 305 seconds. Appearance: No visible damage.
- Temperature Cycling: 5 cycles of -25, room temp, 85 (or 125 for Y5R), room temp. Post-treatment as per 5.3.3. Appearance: No visible damage. Capacitance change, Q/DF, Insulation Resistance, Withstand Voltage within specified limits.
- Damp Heat Test: Stored at 402, 90~95% RH for 500+24 hours. Post-treatment as per 5.3.3. Appearance: No visible damage. Capacitance change, Q/DF, Insulation Resistance, Withstand Voltage within specified limits.
- Endurance Test: Operated at 853 with applied voltage for 1000+48 hours. Post-treatment as per 5.3.3. Appearance, Capacitance change, Q/DF, Insulation Resistance, Withstand Voltage within specified limits.
