General Characteristics

- Operating Temperature Range: Ambient temperature range at which the capacitor can be operated continuously at rated voltage (Refer to Table 1 temperature range).

- Load Life Test: At 105C 2C with DC bias voltage plus rated ripple current for 2000 hours. Criteria: Leakage current within specified value, Capacitance change within 25% of initial value, tan not more than 150% of specified value, no electrolyte leakage.
- Shelf Life Test: Stored at 1052C for 1000+48/0 hours, no voltage applied. Criteria: Leakage current within specified value, Capacitance change within 25% of initial value, tan not more than 150% of specified value, no electrolyte leakage.
- Surge Test: 1000 cycles of charge (305s) and discharge (5 min 30s) with a surge voltage. Criteria: Leakage current not more than specified value, Capacitance change within 15% of initial value, tan not more than specified value, no electrolyte leakage.
- Vibration Test: 10Hz ~ 55Hz, 1.5mm peak to peak amplitude for 2 hours in 3 mutually perpendicular directions. Criteria: No intermittent contacts, open or short circuiting, no damage to terminals or electrodes, no mechanical damage, no electrolyte leakage or swelling, legible markings.
- Solderability Test: Soldering temperature: 2453C, Dipping depth: 2mm, Dipping speed: 252.5mm/s, Dipping time: 30.5s. Criteria: Minimum 95% of the surface immersed.
- Resistance to Solder Heat Test: Solder bath at 2605C for 101 seconds or 40010C for 3+0/-1 seconds, 1.5~2.0mm from the body. Criteria: Leakage current not more than specified value, Capacitance change within 10% of initial value, tan not more than specified value, no electrolyte leakage.
- Change of Temperature Test: 5 cycles of temperature change: +20C (3 min), Rated low temperature (-40C or -25C) (302 min), Rated high temperature (+105C) (302 min). Criteria: Leakage current not more than specified value, tan not more than specified value, no electrolyte leakage.
- Damp Heat Test: 5008 hours at 402C and 90~95% RH. Criteria: Leakage current not more than specified value, Capacitance change within 20% of initial value, tan not more than 120% of specified value, no electrolyte leakage.
- Vent Test: For products with vent (diameter 6.3). DC test with reversed polarity and applied current (1A for 22.4mm diameter, 10A for >22.4mm diameter). Criteria: Vent operates with no dangerous conditions.
- Maximum Permissible Ripple Current: Maximum AC current at 120Hz and maximum operating temperature. Frequency multipliers provided for different frequencies.
