Application Guidelines
Circuit Design: Electrical parameters vary with temperature and frequency. Consider effects on leakage current, capacitance, and ESR. Avoid reverse voltage, over voltage, excessive ripple current, and pulse current exceeding 10 times rated ripple current. For series/parallel connections, consider voltage/current imbalances. Ensure adequate clearance for pressure relief vents and avoid wiring near vents. Use appropriate mounting adhesives and coating agents. Ensure electrical isolation. Product endurance should take the sample as the standard. Collect date code within 6 months for load or shelf life tests. The vinyl sleeve is for marking and not electrical insulation.
Capacitor Handling Techniques: Do not reuse capacitors from used equipment. Discharge transient recovery voltage if required. Recondition capacitors stored for long periods by gradually applying rated voltage with a current-limiting resistor. Avoid using dropped, dented, or crushed capacitors. Verify capacitance, rated voltage, and polarity before insertion. Avoid stress on leads during insertion and soldering. Observe soldering temperature and time specifications. Avoid immersing capacitor body into solder bath. Do not allow other components to touch the capacitor during soldering. Avoid rapid temperature rises. Avoid movement of the capacitor after soldering. Do not use the capacitor as a handle. Avoid striking the capacitor after assembly.
Circuit Board Cleaning: Use suitable cleaning solvents, rinse, and dry thoroughly. Avoid ozone-depleting agents, halogenated solvents (except for solvent-resistant types), alkali solvents, petroleum-based solvents, xylene, and acetone. Monitor contamination levels. Consult for acceptable cleaning solvents or methods.
Precautions for using capacitors: Do not store or use outside rated temperature range, in contact with water/salt water/oil, high humidity, toxic gases, ozone, radiation, UV rays, or exceeding vibration/shock requirements. Avoid touching terminals due to electric shock risk. Avoid short-circuiting terminals with conductive materials or liquids.
Emergency Procedures: If pressure relief vent operates, immediately turn off equipment and disconnect power. Avoid contact with escaping electrolyte gas. Flush eyes with water if electrolyte enters. Gargle with water if ingested. Wash skin with soap and water if electrolyte contacts skin.
Long Term Storage: Leakage current increases with long storage. Recondition capacitors older than one year by applying rated voltage in series with a 1000 resistor for 30 minutes. Products with date codes over eighteen months should be returned for confirmation.
Capacitor Disposal: Incinerate after crushing or puncturing the can wall. Dispose of as solid waste. Follow local laws for specific disposal requirements.
