Application Guidelines

Circuit Design: Parameters vary with temperature and frequency. Consider effects on leakage current, capacitance, and ESR. Avoid reverse voltage, overvoltage, and excessive ripple current. Use appropriate wiring methods for parallel or series capacitor connections. Ensure adequate clearance for pressure relief vents and avoid obstructions. Electrically isolate capacitors. The vinyl sleeve is for identification and not electrical insulation.

Capacitor Handling: Verify capacitance, rated voltage, and polarity before insertion. Avoid dropping or damaging capacitors. Ensure correct hole spacing and avoid stress on leads during insertion and soldering. Observe soldering temperature and time specifications. Avoid immersing the capacitor body into the solder bath. Handle capacitors carefully after soldering to prevent stress on leads. Use suitable cleaning solvents and ensure thorough drying. Avoid halogenated, alkali, petroleum-based solvents, xylene, and acetone unless specified.

Precautions for using capacitors: Do not store or use in extreme temperatures, direct contact with water/oil, high humidity, toxic gases, ozone, radiation, or excessive vibration/shock. Avoid touching terminals due to electric shock risk. Do not short circuit terminals.

Emergency Procedures: If pressure relief vent operates, immediately turn off equipment. Avoid contact with escaping electrolyte gas. Flush eyes with water if electrolyte enters. Wash skin with soap and water.

Long Term Storage: Leakage current increases with long storage. Recondition capacitors stored for over one year by applying rated voltage in series with a 1000 resistor for 30 minutes.

Capacitor Disposal: Incinerate after crushing or puncturing the can to prevent explosion. Incinerate at high temperatures to prevent toxic gas release. Dispose of as solid waste, following local laws.
