Product Overview

This specification applies to polar Aluminum electrolytic capacitors (foil type) designed for use in electronic equipment. Performance Characteristics (Refer to Table 2)

  • Rated Voltage (WV) & Surge Voltage (SV): Available in various ratings (e.g., 6.3V to 100V WVdc, 8V to 125V SVdc).
  • Nominal Capacitance (Tolerance): Measured at 120Hz12Hz, 0.5Vrms, 202. Shall be within specified tolerance.
  • Leakage Current: Measured after 2 minutes with a 1k10 protective resistor. Refer to Table 1 for values.
  • tan: Measured under same conditions as nominal capacitance. Refer to Table 1 for values.
  • Terminal Strength: Specified tensile and bending forces for different lead wire diameters. No breakage or looseness allowed.
  • Temperature Characteristics: Tested at various temperatures (-40, 20, 105). tan and leakage current must be within limits. Impedance ratio at low temperatures is specified.
  • Load Life Test: 105C 2, rated ripple current, DC bias voltage for specified duration. Criteria include leakage current, capacitance change (25%), tan (150% of specified), and no electrolyte leakage.
  • Shelf Life Test: Stored at 1052 for 3000+48/0 hours. Tested after recovery. Criteria include leakage current, capacitance change (25%), tan (150% of specified), and no electrolyte leakage.
  • Surge Test: 1000 cycles of charge/discharge with surge voltage. Criteria include leakage current, capacitance change (15%), tan (within specified), and no electrolyte leakage.
  • Vibration Test: 10Hz ~ 55Hz, 1.5mm peak-to-peak amplitude for 2 hours in 3 directions. Criteria include no intermittent contacts, open/short circuits, damage, or electrolyte leakage.
  • Solderability Test: Soldering temperature 2453C, dipping time 30.5s. Minimum 95% surface coated.
  • Resistance to Solder Heat Test: Immersion in solder bath at 2605 for 101s or 40010 for 3+0/-1s. Criteria include leakage current, capacitance change (10%), tan (within specified), and no electrolyte leakage.
  • Change of Temperature Test: 5 cycles of temperature changes (-40, +105). Criteria include leakage current, tan (within specified), and no electrolyte leakage.
  • Damp Heat Test: 90~95% RH at 402 for 5008 hours. Criteria include leakage current, capacitance change (20%), tan (120% of specified), and no electrolyte leakage.
  • Vent Test: For products with vents (diameter 6.3). DC test with reversed polarity. Vent shall operate with no dangerous conditions.
  • Maximum Permissible (Ripple Current): Maximum AC current at 120Hz and maximum operating temperature. Frequency multipliers provided.
