Test Conditions and Criteria

  • Load Life Test: 105C 2 with DC bias voltage plus rated ripple current for Table 1. Tested after 16 hours recovery. Criteria: Leakage current within specified value, Capacitance change within 25%, tan not more than 150% of specified value, no electrolyte leakage.
  • Shelf Life Test: Stored at 1052 for 1000+48/0 hours without voltage. Tested after 4~8 hours stabilization and 30min DC rated voltage application through 1k100 resistor. Criteria: Leakage current within specified value, Capacitance change within 25%, tan not more than 150% of specified value, no electrolyte leakage.
  • Surge Test: 1000 cycles of 305s charge and 5 min 30s discharge with a (100 50)/CR (k) resistor. Temperature: 15~35. Criteria: Leakage current within specified value, Capacitance change within 15%, tan within specified value, no electrolyte leakage.
  • Vibration Test: 10Hz ~ 55Hz, 1.5mm peak to peak amplitude for 2 hours in 3 directions. Criteria: No intermittent contacts, open or short circuiting, no damage to terminals or electrodes, no mechanical damage, no electrolyte leakage or swelling, legible markings.
  • Solderability Test: Soldering temperature: 2453C, Dipping depth: 2mm, Dipping speed: 252.5mm/s, Dipping time: 30.5s. Criteria: Minimum 95% of immersed surface coated.
  • Resistance to Solder Heat Test: Solder bath at 2605 for 101 seconds or 40010 for 3+0/-1 seconds, 1.5~2.0mm from body. Tested after 1~2 hours at normal conditions. Criteria: Leakage current within specified value, Capacitance change within 10%, tan within specified value, no electrolyte leakage.
  • Change of Temperature Test: 5 cycles of +20 (3 min), Rated low temp (-40 or -25) (302 min), Rated high temp (+105) (302 min). Criteria: Leakage current within specified value, tan within specified value, no electrolyte leakage.
  • Damp Heat Test: 5008 hours at 90~95% RH, 402. Criteria: Leakage current within specified value, Capacitance change within 20%, tan not more than 120% of specified value, no electrolyte leakage.
  • Vent Test: For products with vent (diameter 6.3). DC test with reversed polarity and specified current. Criteria: Vent operates with no dangerous conditions.
  • Maximum Permissible Ripple Current: Maximum AC current at 120Hz and maximum operating temperature. Combined DC and AC peak voltage shall not exceed rated voltage. Frequency multipliers provided for different frequencies.
