Application Guidelines
Circuit Design: Electrical parameters vary with temperature and frequency. Consider effects on leakage current, capacitance, and ESR. Avoid reverse voltage, repeating charge/discharge, over voltage, and exceeding maximum ripple current. Use appropriate wiring for parallel/series capacitor configurations. Ensure proper mounting clearances for pressure relief vents and avoid routing sensitive wiring near vents. For screw terminal capacitors, do not orient with the terminal side facing downwards.
Capacitor Handling: Verify capacitance, rated voltage, and polarity before insertion. Avoid mechanical stress on leads. Observe soldering temperature and time specifications. Avoid immersing the capacitor body into the solder bath. Do not use capacitors as a handle when moving circuit board assemblies. Clean circuit boards using suitable solvents, avoiding halogenated, alkali, petroleum-based, xylene, and acetone solvents unless specified. Ensure thorough drying after cleaning.
Precautions: Do not store or use capacitors outside rated temperature ranges, in contact with water/salt water/oil, high humidity, toxic gases, ozone, radiation, or exceeding vibration/shock requirements. Avoid touching terminals due to electric shock risk. Do not short circuit terminals with conductive materials.
Emergency Procedures: If vent operates, immediately turn off equipment. Avoid contact with escaping electrolyte gas. Flush eyes with water if contact occurs. Wash skin with soap and water.
Long Term Storage: Leakage current increases with storage time. Recondition capacitors stored for over one year by applying rated voltage in series with a 1000 resistor for 30 minutes. Products with date codes over eighteen months should be returned for confirmation.
Capacitor Disposal: Incinerate after crushing or puncturing to prevent explosion, or dispose of as solid waste, following local laws.
