Application Guidelines
Circuit Design: Consider effects of operating temperature and frequency on electrical parameters. Avoid reverse voltage, over voltage, and excessive ripple current. Use appropriate wiring methods for series/parallel capacitor configurations. Ensure sufficient clearance for pressure relief vents and avoid flammable wiring near vents. Ensure proper circuit board hole spacing and avoid circuit board patterns under the capacitor.
Capacitor Handling: Verify capacitance and rated voltage before use. Ensure correct polarity before insertion. Avoid dropping or denting capacitors. Ensure auto insertion equipment does not stress leads. Observe soldering temperature and time specifications. Avoid touching capacitor body with soldering iron. Do not immerse capacitor body into solder bath. Avoid movement of capacitor after soldering. Do not use capacitor as a handle. Avoid striking capacitor after assembly.
Circuit Board Cleaning: Use suitable cleaning solvents, avoid halogenated, alkali, petroleum-based, xylene, and acetone solvents unless specified. Ensure thorough drying after cleaning. Monitor contamination levels of cleaning solvents.
Mounting Adhesives and Coating Agents: Avoid materials containing halogenated solvents or chloroprene based polymers. Dry thoroughly after application.
Precautions for using capacitors: Do not store or use outside rated temperature range, in contact with water/oil, high humidity, toxic gases, ozone, radiation, or excessive vibration/shock. Avoid touching terminals due to electric shock risk. Avoid short-circuiting terminals.
Emergency Procedures: If pressure relief vent operates, immediately turn off equipment. Avoid contact with escaping electrolyte gas. Flush eyes with water if electrolyte enters. Gargle with water if ingested. Wash skin with soap and water.
Long Term Storage: Leakage current increases with long storage. Recondition capacitors stored for over one year by applying rated voltage in series with a 1000 resistor for 30 minutes. Products with date codes over eighteen months should be returned for confirmation.
Capacitor Disposal: Incinerate after crushing or puncturing, or dispose of as solid waste, following local laws.
