Mechanical Characteristics

  • Vibration Resistance: Tested at 10-55 Hz with 1.5mm amplitude for 2 hours in three directions. Capacitance stable, appearance normal, capacitance change within 5% of initial value.
  • Solderability: Leads dipped in solder at 260C 5C for 20.5 seconds. Solder alloy covers 95% of dipped lead surface.

Reliability

  • Soldering Heat Resistance: Leads immersed in solder at 270C 5C for 101 seconds. No visible damage or electrolyte leakage. Capacitance change within 5% of initial value.
  • Damp Heat (Steady State): 2408 hours at 40C2C and 90%-95% RH. Capacitance change within 20% of initial value.
  • Storage at Low Temperature: -25 3 for 964 hours. Capacitance change within 20% of initial value.
  • Pressure Relief (Anti-explosion): Tested with AC and DC voltage/current. Pressure relief device shall open to prevent explosion.

Guidelines For Using Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors

  • Polarity: DC electrolytic capacitors are polarized. Ensure correct polarity to avoid damage. Not for AC application.
  • Bipolar Capacitors: For pulse and polarity reverse circuits only, not for pure AC or high ripple current.
  • Operating Voltage: Do not exceed rated voltage. Recommended working voltage is 70-80% of rated voltage for extended life.
  • Ripple Current: Do not exceed permissible ripple current to prevent overheating and damage. Generally not more than 80% of rated current.
  • Charge/Discharge Circuits: Use specially designed capacitors for circuits with frequent charge/discharge cycles.
  • Operating Temperature: Characteristics vary with temperature. Lower temperatures ensure longer life.
  • Temperature and Life: Life is approximately doubled for every 10 reduction in temperature from rated temperature.
  • Operating Frequency: Capacitance decreases and tg increases with rising frequency.
  • Long-term Storage: Apply rated DC voltage gradually before use to mitigate increased leakage current and reduced withstand voltage.
  • Case Insulation: Capacitor case is not insulated from the cathode terminal. Insulation measures are required at the mounting point if case insulation is needed.
  • Terminal Force: Do not apply excessive force to terminals or leads to prevent damage.
  • Cleaning: Use recommended solvents (methanol, isopropanol, ethanol, etc.). Avoid halogenated solvents.
  • Soldering: Maintain distance from plastic sleeve. Solder bath temperature within 260 for no more than 10 seconds.
  • Hole Layout: Ensure correct hole spacing on PCBs to avoid stress on leads. Consider solder splashing.
