Leads dipped in solder at 260C 5C for 20.5 seconds. Solder alloy to cover 95% or more of dipped lead surface.

Reliability

Soldering Heat Resistance: Leads immersed in solder at 260C 5C for 101 seconds. No visible damage or leakage. Capacitance change within 5% of initial, Tan S and Leakage current less than specified values.
Damp Heat (Steady State): Subjected to 40C 2C and 90%-95% RH for 2408 hours. Capacitance change within 20% of initial, Tan S and Leakage current less than specified values.
Storage at Low Temperature: Stored at -25C 3C for 964 hours. Capacitance change within 20% of initial, Appearance normal.

Pressure Relief (Explosion Proof Test)

AC Test: Applied voltage not exceeding 0.7 times rated DC voltage or 250V AC, whichever is lower, at 50Hz or 60Hz. Series resistor varies by capacitance.
DC Test: Specific DC current applied while applying inverse voltage. Pressure relief device shall open to prevent explosion or metal splatter. Applicable to capacitors with diameter 6mm or more.

Guidelines For Using Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors

  1. Polarity: DC electrolytic capacitors are polarized. Reversed voltage may cause damage. Use bipolar capacitors if polarity is uncertain. Not for AC applications.
  2. Bipolar Capacitors: For pulse and polarity reverse circuits, not for pure AC or high ripple.
  3. Working Voltage: Do not exceed rated voltage. Recommended working voltage is 70-80% of rated voltage for extended life.
  4. Ripple Current: Do not exceed permissible ripple current to prevent overheating and damage. Generally not more than 80% of rated current.
  5. Fast Charge/Discharge: Use specially designed capacitors for circuits with frequent charge/discharge cycles.
  6. Operating Temperature: Characteristics change with temperature. Lower temperatures ensure longer life.
  7. Temperature and Life: Life is approximately doubled for every 10C reduction in temperature. Formula: L2 = L1 * 2^((T1-T2)/10).
  8. Operating Frequency: Capacitance decreases and tg increases with higher frequencies.
  9. Long-term Storage: Apply rated DC voltage treatment before use to address increased leakage current and reduced withstand voltage.
  10. Case Insulation: Capacitor case is not insulated from the cathode terminal. Insulation measures are required at the mounting point if case insulation is necessary.
  11. Terminal Force: Do not apply excessive force to terminals or leads to prevent breakage or internal connection failure.
  12. Circuit Board Cleaning: Do not use halogenated solvents. Recommended solvents: Methanol, isopropanol, ethanol, isobutanol, petroleum ether, propanol, and general detergents.
  13. Soldering: Maintain distance from plastic sleeve. Solder bath temperature within 260C, time not exceeding 10 seconds.
  14. Hole Layout: Ensure hole spacing on PCBs matches lead spacing to avoid stress on leads. Consider hole layout to prevent solder splashing.
