Ferrite EMI Cable Cores
Laird's Ferrite EMI Cable Cores are designed to suppress electromagnetic interference (EMI) in electronic systems. These cores are crucial for ensuring signal integrity and protecting sensitive electronics from unwanted noise. They are effective in attenuating EMI across a wide frequency range, from 300 KHz to 2 GHz. The selection of the appropriate ferrite material, core shape, and size significantly impacts impedance performance. High-performance ferrite materials allow for smaller, lighter, and more cost-effective cores. These cores are designed to slide easily over cables and are recommended for installation near the noise source. Utilizing a common mode configuration, where both outgoing and returning lines pass through the same core, makes the ferrite core a common mode choke that is not susceptible to saturation from high currents. Additional turns through a core increase the peak impedance and shift it to a slightly lower frequency. Split, snap-on cores are available for applications where cores cannot be installed over cable ends and connectors.
