Marking
- On capacitor: Rated capacitance (e.g., 393), Rated voltage (e.g., 250VDC), Capacitance tolerance (e.g., J), Manufacturer's symbol (JIMSON (JS)). Marking method: UV ink or laser engraving.
- On package: Product model, rated capacitance and voltage, date of manufacture, location of manufacture, and manufacturer's name.
Important Terminology Explanations
- Rated Capacitance: Expressed by a three-digit number (e.g., 224 = 220,000pF or 0.22uF). Unit: pF.
- Capacitance Tolerance: Permissible actual capacitance relative to rated capacitance (e.g., F=±1%, G=±2%, J=±5%, K=±10%).
- Dissipation Factor (DF): Measure of power loss in a capacitor under AC voltage, ratio of active power to reactive power (tgδ = P/Q). Measured at 20 and 1kHz.
- Insulation Resistance (IR): Ratio between applied DC voltage and leakage current after 1 minute of charging. Measured at 20 and RH≤65%. Expressed in megohms for low capacitance, or as a time constant (IR*C) for higher capacitance.
- Self-healing: Ability of metallized film capacitors to isolate a breakdown point by evaporating the thin metal layer around it, preventing permanent short circuits.
Weatherability Testing Methods
- High Temperature (85): Capacitance drift ≤ +5% of initial value; DF change < 0.2% (at 1kHz).
- Low Temperature (-40): Capacitance drift ≤ -5% of initial value; DF change < 0.15% (at 1kHz).
- Humidity (40±3, 90-95% RH for 96±4h, then 16h): Capacitance drift ≤ +3% of initial value; DF < 0.20% (at 1kHz); IR > 50% of initial value.
Caution
- Soldering Suggestion: Maximum Soldering Temperature: 270, Time: 4S. Pre-heating: 105, 1min.
- Salt Fog Test: For tin-plated copper-coated steel leads, test salt mist after wave peak welding.
Storage Environment and Conditions
- Storage Environment: Temperature ≤ 30, Humidity ≤ 70%. MBB (Moisture Barrier Bag) not opened ensures 24 months of storage.
- Storage Condition: Avoid atmospheric contaminants (hydrogen chloride, hydrogen sulfide, sulfuric acid). Store in air, not exposed to high temperature and high humidity. Solderability of terminations may degrade if stored improperly.
