Usage Precautions
- Electrolytic capacitors are polarized; ensure correct polarity during installation. Reverse connection can lead to short circuits or damage. Use non-polarized capacitors if polarity is uncertain or may be reversed.
- Do not apply reverse voltage or DC voltage exceeding the rated voltage. Exceeding the rated voltage significantly increases leakage current and can cause damage. Using at rated voltage is recommended for longevity. Surge voltage is the maximum voltage the capacitor can withstand for a short period.
- Ripple current should be kept below the rated value. Exceeding the rated ripple current can cause overheating, capacitance reduction, and shortened lifespan. The sum of the peak ripple voltage and DC voltage should not exceed the rated working voltage.
- Operate capacitors within the rated temperature range. Operation above the upper limit significantly reduces lifespan or may trigger the safety vent. Operation at room temperature ensures a longer service life. For every 10C decrease in ambient temperature, the service life doubles.
- After prolonged storage, leakage current may increase, especially at higher storage temperatures. Store in a cool, dry environment away from direct sunlight. If leakage current is a concern for the circuit, pre-charge the capacitor before use.
- Not suitable for circuits with frequent charge/discharge cycles, as this can lead to capacitance reduction due to anode oxidation or damage from generated heat.
- Improper installation or stress on leads can damage the internal structure, leading to high leakage current or leaks. Ensure good soldering, correct PCB hole spacing, do not bend leads excessively, and avoid bending or twisting the capacitor body during soldering.
- During tin dipping or soldering, the sleeve may crack or shrink due to excessive time or temperature.
- Do not use halogenated organic solvents for cleaning. If cleaning is necessary, use approved cleaning agents and dry the capacitor and PCB with hot air (not exceeding the capacitor's upper temperature limit) for at least 10 minutes after cleaning. Do not store in cleaning solutions or sealed containers after cleaning.
- Avoid using fixing agents or coatings containing halogenated organic compounds. Do not seal the capacitor's vent with these agents.
- Recommended storage conditions: 35, <75% RH, away from direct sunlight. Shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture. If stored beyond 12 months, re-check electrical characteristics and solderability.
- Dispose of waste capacitors through local industrial waste disposal services.
- Refer to EIAJ RCR-2367B for more details.
