Usage Precautions

  • Polarized: Ensure correct polarity during installation to prevent short circuits or damage. Use non-polarized capacitors for circuits with uncertain polarity.
  • Voltage: Do not apply reverse voltage or DC voltage exceeding the rated voltage. Recommended to operate at rated voltage for optimal lifespan. Surge voltage is the maximum voltage the capacitor can withstand for a short duration.
  • Ripple Current: Keep ripple current below the rated value to prevent overheating, capacity reduction, and shortened lifespan. The sum of ripple voltage peak and DC voltage should be less than the rated operating voltage.
  • Temperature: Operate within the rated temperature range. Exceeding the upper limit will significantly reduce lifespan or activate the safety vent. Operating at room temperature ensures a longer lifespan. For every 10 decrease in ambient temperature, lifespan doubles.
  • Storage: Prolonged storage, especially at higher temperatures, can increase leakage current. Leakage current will decrease after applying voltage. If high leakage current affects the circuit, pre-charge before use.
  • Frequent Charge/Discharge: Not suitable for circuits with frequent charge/discharge cycles, as it can lead to capacity reduction or damage due to heat generation.
  • Installation: Improper installation or stress on leads can damage the internal structure, leading to high leakage current or leakage issues. Ensure good soldering, correct PCB hole spacing, and avoid bending leads or distorting the capacitor body during soldering.
  • Soldering: Prolonged or excessively high temperatures during tin dipping or soldering may cause the sleeve to crack or shrink.
  • Cleaning: Avoid using halogenated organic solvents for cleaning. If cleaning is necessary, use approved agents and ensure the capacitor quality is maintained. After cleaning, dry with hot air (not exceeding the upper temperature limit) for at least 10 minutes.
  • Fixatives/Coatings: Do not use halogenated organic series fixatives and coating agents. Avoid completely sealing the capacitor's sealing area with these agents.
  • Recommended Storage: Store in an environment below 35 with relative humidity less than 75% RH, away from direct sunlight. Product shelf life is 12 months from the factory. If storage exceeds 12 months, check electrical characteristics and solderability.
  • Disposal: Contact local industrial waste disposal services for proper disposal.
  • Further Information: Refer to EIAJ RCR-2367B for more details.
