| Guidelines - Polarity | DC electrolytic capacitors are polarized. Ensure correct polarity to avoid short circuits or damage. Use bipolar capacitors for uncertain polarity. Not for AC applications. |
| Guidelines - Bipolar Capacitors | Suitable for pulse and polarity reverse circuits only. Not for pure AC or high ripple current circuits. |
| Guidelines - Voltage | Do not exceed rated voltage. Recommended working voltage is 70-80% of rated voltage for extended life. |
| Guidelines - Ripple Current | Do not exceed permissible ripple current. Excessive ripple current causes heating, capacitance reduction, and damage. Generally, not more than 80% of rated current. |
| Guidelines - Charge/Discharge | Use specially designed capacitors for circuits with rapid charge/discharge cycles to prevent damage and premature failure. |
| Guidelines - Operating Temperature | Capacitor characteristics vary with temperature. Lower temperatures ensure longer life. |
| Guidelines - Temperature & Life Relationship | Life is inversely proportional to temperature. Reducing temperature by 10 can double the lifespan. Formula provided for calculation. |
| Guidelines - Operating Frequency | Capacitance is usually measured at 100Hz or 120Hz. Capacitance decreases and tg increases with higher frequencies, leading to increased ambient temperature. |
| Guidelines - Long-Term Storage | For capacitors stored long-term, apply rated DC voltage gradually before use to restore capacitance and withstand voltage. |
| Guidelines - Case Insulation | The capacitor case is not insulated from the cathode terminal. Insulation must be provided at the mounting point if required. |
| Guidelines - Terminal Force | Do not apply excessive force to terminals and leads to prevent breakage, separation, or internal connection failure. |
| Guidelines - Bending Leads | When bending leads for horizontal mounting, maintain a 2mm safe spacing from the capacitor body to prevent internal damage. |
| Guidelines - Cleaning | Use recommended solvents (Methanol, Isopropanol, Ethanol, etc.) for cleaning circuit boards. Avoid halogenated solvents like trichlorethylene, xylene, or acetone to protect the capacitor body. |
| Guidelines - Soldering | Maintain distance from plastic sleeves. Recommended soldering temperature is within 260 for no more than 10 seconds to avoid component damage. |
| Guidelines - Hole Layout | Ensure hole spacing on circuit boards matches lead spacing to prevent stress on leads. Consider hole layout carefully to prevent solder splashing onto the capacitor. |
