PolarityDC electrolytic capacitors are polarized. Polarity is marked on the capacitor body. Use bipolar capacitors when polarity is not determined or unknown. DC electrolytic capacitors cannot be used for AC application.
Bipolar CapacitorsUsed only in pulse circuits and polarity reverse circuits. Not applicable in pure AC or high ripple current circuits.
Voltage ApplicationRecommended working voltage is 70-80% of rated voltage. Do not apply voltage greater than rated voltage.

Temperature and Life RelationshipLife is approximately doubled for every 10C decrease in temperature from the rated temperature. Formula provided for calculation.
Operating FrequencyCapacitance is typically measured at 100Hz or 120Hz. Capacitance decreases and tg increases with higher frequencies, leading to increased ambient temperature.
StorageFor capacitors stored for a long time, apply rated DC voltage gradually before use to restore capacitance and withstand voltage, as leakage current may increase.
Case InsulationThe capacitor case is not insulated from the cathode terminal. Insulation must be provided at the mounting point if the case requires insulation.
Terminal/Lead ForceDo not apply excessive force to terminals and leads to prevent breakage, separation, or internal connection failure.
