Technical Specifications
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Polarity | DC electrolytic capacitors are polarized. Ensure correct polarity to prevent short circuits or damage. Use bipolar capacitors for uncertain polarity. Not for AC applications. |
| Bipolar Capacitors Usage | Suitable for pulse and polarity reverse circuits only. Not for pure AC or high ripple current circuits. |
| Operating Voltage | Do not exceed rated voltage. Recommended working voltage is 70-80% of rated voltage for extended life. |
| Ripple Current | Do not exceed permissible ripple current. Excessive ripple current causes heating, capacitance reduction, and damage. Generally, do not exceed 80% of rated current. |
| Charge/Discharge Circuits | Use specially designed capacitors for circuits with rapid, repeated charge and discharge cycles to prevent damage and premature failure. |
| Operating Temperature | Capacitor characteristics vary with temperature. Lower operating temperatures ensure longer life. |
| Temperature vs. Life | Life is approximately doubled for every 10C reduction in temperature from the rated temperature. Formula provided for calculation. |
| Operating Frequency | Capacitance is typically measured at 100Hz or 120Hz. Capacitance decreases and tg increases with higher frequencies, leading to increased ambient temperature. |
| Long-Term Storage | Capacitors stored for extended periods may have increased leakage current and reduced withstand voltage. Before use, gradually apply DC voltage up to the rated voltage. |
| Case Insulation | The capacitor case is not insulated from the cathode terminal. Insulate the case at the mounting point if required. |
| Terminal/Lead Force | Do not apply excessive force to terminals or leads to prevent breakage, separation, or internal connection failure. |
| Bending Leads | Maintain a 2mm safe spacing between the capacitor body and the bend when forming leads for horizontal mounting to prevent internal structural damage. |
| Circuit Board Cleaning | Use recommended solvents (Methanol, Isopropanol, Ethanol, etc.). Avoid halogenated solvents (trichlorethylene, xylene, acetone) to protect the capacitor body, marking, and sealing materials. |
| Soldering | Maintain distance between soldering iron and plastic sleeve. For solder dipping, keep temperature within 260C and duration under 10 seconds to prevent damage. |
| Hole Layout on PCB | Ensure hole spacing on the circuit board matches lead spacing to avoid stress on leads. Consider hole layout carefully to prevent solder splashing onto the capacitor body. |
