Lead-free Reflow Soldering Conditions
Recommended Conditions:
- Use infrared radiation (IR) or hot blast systems; vapor heat transfer systems (VPS) are not recommended.
- Perform reflow soldering once. If twice is necessary, allow at least 60 minutes between operations.
- Preheating from 150C to 180C: < 120 seconds.
- Soldering time at 217C (top temp.): tL (second).
- Soldering time at 230C (top temp.): td (second).
- Peak temperature (top temp.): Tp (C), time within 5C of peak: tp (second).
Allowable Range of Peak Temperature:
| Size | Thickness (mm) | Tp (C) | tL (second) | td (second) | tp (second) |

Application Guideline for V-CHIP Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors
Circuit Design Considerations:
- Ensure environmental and mounting conditions are within catalog specifications.
- Operating temperature and applied ripple current must be within specified limits.
- Select capacitors that meet the required lifespan for the application.
- Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are polarized; avoid reverse or AC voltage. Use bi-polar capacitors if reverse voltage is possible.
