Testing Conditions and Methods

  • Visual Inspection: 100% inspection under magnification (5-10x) for deformation, damage, dents, cracks, burrs, foreign matter, delamination, or metallization detachment.
  • Room Temperature Test: 100% testing at room temperature to ensure electrical parameters meet Table 2 specifications.
  • Sampling Plan: Based on batch size as per Table 3 for capacitance, dissipation factor, insulation resistance, dielectric withstand voltage, dimensions, appearance, and solderability.
  • Inspection Methods (Table 4):
    • Capacitance: Tested at 1MHz50KHz (Class I 1000pF, Class II 100pF) or 1KHz50Hz (Class I >1nF, Class II 100pF < C 10uF).
    • Dissipation Factor: Tested at 1MHz50KHz (Class I 1000pF, Class II 100pF) or 1KHz50Hz (Class I >1nF, Class II 100pF < C 10uF). Specific limits apply for Class I and Class II (X7R, X5R) based on voltage and capacitance.
    • Insulation Resistance: Measured between terminals at rated voltage (UR500V) or 500V (UR>500V). Reading time 2min. Limits vary for Class I and Class II based on capacitance.
    • Dielectric Withstand Voltage: Applied voltage varies based on rated voltage (UR). Duration (51)s, surge current 50mA. Capacitors should show no breakdown, arcing, or visible damage.
    • Dimensions: Checked with measuring instruments of appropriate precision (refer to Table 1).
    • Appearance: Visual inspection under adequate light or 10x microscope.
