Marking Information

06031% E96 Series Resistance Value Code: A table of codes and corresponding resistance values is provided for the 0603 size with 1% tolerance, utilizing the E96 series. For sizes 0201 and 0402, no marking is present due to small size. For 5% tolerance, a 3-digit code is used. For 0.5%, 1%, 2% tolerance, a 4-digit code is used. Zero ohm products use a single digit '0'. Resistance values below 10 are marked with 'R' (e.g., 5R6=5.6). Resistance values below 100 are marked with 'R' (e.g., 6R81=6.81). 0603 1% products not in the E96 series use the same code as 5% tolerance but with an underline.

Multiplier Code for 0603 1% Marking

A multiplier code system is used, with examples like 10D=124K and 38Y=2.43. For 0603 1% products in the standard E24 series but not E96, the marking is the same as 5% tolerance but underlined.

Resistance Structure

The resistor is constructed with a ceramic substrate (Al2O3), silver conductive and back electrodes, NiCr side electrodes, a resistive layer of RuO2+ glass, an inner protective glass layer, an outer protective epoxy layer, and plated nickel and tin electrodes.

Performance Specifications

Temperature Coefficient: Varies by resistance range, tested per JIS C 5201 / IEC60115-1.

Short-time overload: (1.0%+0.05) for 0.5%, 1%; (2.0%+0.05) for 5%. Tested by applying 2.5 times rated voltage for 5 seconds.

Solderability: >95% coverage after dipping in flux and a 2455 soldering bath for 30.5 seconds.

Resist to soldering heat: (1.00% +0.05) after dipping in flux and a 2605 soldering bath for 100.5 seconds.

Insulation resistance: >10G after applying dielectric withstanding voltage for 605 seconds.

Dielectric withstanding voltage: No breakdown, flashover, arcing, or visible mechanical damage after applying voltage for 605 seconds.

Terminal bending: (1.00% +0.05) variation after bending test per size specifications.

Rapid temperature changes: (1.0%+0.05) for 0.5%, 1%; (2.0%+0.05) for 5%. Tested over 300 cycles between -55 and 155/125.

Humidity: Tested for 1000 hours at 402 and 90-95% RH with intermittent power application.
