Application guideline for V-CHIP aluminum electrolytic capacitors

Circuit Design:

  • Ensure environmental and mounting conditions are within CT's catalogue specifications.
  • Operating temperature and applied ripple current must be within CT specifications.
  • Select capacitors that meet the life requirements of the product.
  • Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are polar; avoid reverse or AC voltage. Use bi-polar capacitors for circuits with potential reverse voltage. Bi-polar capacitors are not for pure AC circuits.
  • Do not use aluminum electrolytic capacitors in circuits requiring rapid and frequent charge/discharge; opt for special long-life capacitors.
  • Do not apply excess voltage. The peak voltage from DC voltage and ripple voltage superposition should not exceed the rated voltage.
