Guidelines For Using Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor
To ensure optimal performance and extend the life of your multilayer polymer solid aluminum electrolytic capacitors, please read the following guidelines carefully.
- Polarity: DC electrolytic capacitors are polarized. Ensure correct polarity is observed as marked on the capacitor body. Reversed voltage can cause short circuits or damage. Use bipolar capacitors for non-fixed or uncertain polarity applications. DC electrolytic capacitors are not suitable for AC applications.
- Voltage: Do not apply voltage greater than the rated voltage. Exceeding the rated voltage increases leakage current and may damage the capacitor. For extended life, it is recommended to operate at 70-80% of the rated voltage.
- Ripple Current: Avoid excessive ripple current. Exceeding the permissible ripple current can cause the capacitor to overheat, reduce capacitance, and lead to damage. Ensure ripple current does not exceed the allowable limit.
