Performance Characteristics

  • Leakage Current: Measured after connecting with a protective resistor (1k10) in series for 2 minutes. Criteria: I (A) 0.02CV + 10 (A), where C=Capacitance (F), V=Rated DC working voltage (V).
  • Dissipation Factor: Must be within specified parameters.
  • Impedance: Measured at 100kHz, 202C. Must be within specified parameters.
  • Load Life Test: Stored at Maximum operating temperature 2C with DC bias voltage plus rated ripple current for Rated life +48/0 hours. Criteria: Leakage current not more than specified, Capacitance change within 30% of initial value, Dissipation Factor not more than 300% of specified value, no electrolyte leakage.
  • Shelf Life Test: Stored with no voltage applied at Maximum operating temperature 2C for 1000+48/0 hours. Criteria: Leakage current not more than 500% of specified value, Capacitance change within 30% of initial value, Dissipation Factor not more than 300% of specified value, no electrolyte leakage.
  • Maximum Permissible Ripple Current: Maximum AC current at 120Hz and maximum operating temperature. Frequency multipliers provided.
  • Terminal Strength: Tensile and bending strength tests applied to terminals. Criteria: No noticeable changes, breakage, or looseness.
  • Temperature Characteristics: Capacitance, DF, and impedance measured at various temperatures (-25C, +20C, +105C). Criteria specified for capacitance change, dissipation factor, leakage current, and impedance ratio at -25C.
  • Surge Test: Applied surge voltage with a series resistor for 1000 cycles. Criteria: Leakage current not more than specified, Capacitance change within 15% of initial value, Dissipation Factor not more than specified value, no electrolyte leakage.
  • Change of Temperature Test: 5 temperature cycles (-25C to +105C). Criteria: Leakage current not more than specified, Dissipation Factor not more than specified value, no electrolyte leakage.
  • Damp Heat Test: 5008 hours at 402C, 90~95% RH. Criteria: Leakage current not more than specified, Capacitance change within 10% of initial value, Dissipation Factor not more than 120% of specified value, no electrolyte leakage.
  • Solderability Test: Dipping in solder bath at 2455C for 30.5s. Criteria: Soldering wetting time less than 3s, Coating quality minimum 95% surface immersed.
  • Vibration Test: 10Hz ~ 55Hz for 2 hours in 3 directions. Criteria: No intermittent contacts, open/short circuits, damage to terminals/electrodes, mechanical damage, electrolyte leakage, or swelling. Markings legible.
  • Resistance to Solder Heat Test: Immersion in solder bath at 2605C for 101s or 40010C for 10.1s. Criteria: Leakage current not more than specified, Capacitance change within 5% of initial value, Dissipation Factor not more than specified value, no electrolyte leakage.
  • Vent Test: For products with vent (diameter 6.3mm). DC test with reversed polarity. Criteria: Vent operates with no dangerous conditions.
