Product Overview
The Piher PS-10 and PSC-10 are 10-mm carbon and cermet SMD potentiometers designed for applications requiring frequent adjustment. Their shaftless design allows for flexible engagement mechanisms, including customized shafts, motor controls, or human interface adjustments. These potentiometers are ideal for controlling variable outputs such as frequency, motor speed, or volume. They offer up to 10,000 life cycles, IP54 protection, and are available in embossed tape packaging. Options include linear, logarithmic, and antilogarithmic tapers (PSC-10), self-extinguishable plastic (UL 94V-0), and up to 16 mechanical detents for tactile feedback. Locating pins ensure accurate PCB positioning, and a low torque version is available. Applications span appliance program selection, thermostat adjustment, timer and control relays, consumer electronics, power tool controls, test and measurement equipment, small engines, robotics, and medical equipment control.

Standard Configuration:
- PS-10: 1.000 cycles life, non-flammable plastic not standard, no detents, reel packaging, initial wiper position, dark grey housing and rotor, standard torque.
- PSC-10: 1.000 cycles life, non-flammable plastic standard, no detents, reel packaging, initial wiper position, brown housing and rotor, standard torque.
Shafts and Knobs: Available separately, see PT-10 datasheet for possible options.
Stepped Outputs / Constant Value Zones: Constant value zones can be combined with detents for precise alignment between electrical output and mechanical position, enhancing repeatability and precision.
Long Life Models: Available on request. Potentiometers with 1-3 detents up to 10K cycles; 4+ detents up to 5K cycles.
Detent Torque: Can vary from 1.2 to 2.5 times the standard potentiometer torque.
Recommended Connections: Voltage divider circuit for position sensor or control applications.
Recommended Reflow Profile: Preheat 150C, Max temp 250C (60-120s), Cooling 30-45s. (Guideline, verify in specific application).
